1. Who we are

This website is operated by Alex Fitting Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, trading as NorthStone Renovations.

Registered office: 2 Batley Business Park, Technology Drive, Batley, WF17 6ER, United Kingdom.

For the purposes of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, Alex Fitting Limited is the data controller for the personal data described in this notice.

2. What data we collect

We only collect the personal data we need in order to respond to enquiries and invoice for work we carry out. Specifically:

  • Identity and contact data: your name, phone number, email address and property address.
  • Project data: the information you choose to give us in an enquiry (project type, budget range, timescale, message).
  • Billing data: information required to raise invoices and receive payment for work carried out.
  • Technical data strictly necessary to serve the website (see our Cookie Policy).

We do not use marketing pixels, advertising trackers or third-party analytics on this site.

3. Why we use it (lawful basis)

  • To respond to your enquiry — lawful basis: steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • To carry out renovation work and invoice you — performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • To keep accounting and tax records — legal obligation under UK tax law (Art. 6(1)(c)).
  • To keep the website secure and functioning — our legitimate interest in operating a safe service (Art. 6(1)(f)).

We do not use your data for marketing, profiling or automated decision-making.

4. Who we share it with

We keep your data confidential and only share it where necessary:

  • Our accountant and HMRC, for invoicing and tax compliance.
  • Our website and database hosting provider, which stores enquiries submitted through this site on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
  • Where we are legally required to disclose data (for example, in response to a court order).

We do not sell your personal data.

5. International transfers

Where our hosting provider processes data outside the UK, transfers are protected by UK adequacy regulations or by Standard Contractual Clauses together with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

6. How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to a project: up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Client project and billing records: 6 years after the end of the relevant financial year, as required by UK tax law.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Ask us to erase your data where we no longer need it.
  • Restrict or object to our processing.
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent.

8. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to resolve any concerns directly first.

9. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of the page will reflect any changes.
